Mister Mistopheles' Story

I'm on a cat story mailing list (Flippy's mailing list), and these three emails came between Aug 3 and Aug 9. I'm so happy how it turned out, that I thought I'd share the story. After the first one, which was forwarded to the list upon request, I really hoped there would be follow-ups so we could all find out what happened. Read on:

Email #3:

<happy dance mode:ON!>

Mister's bloodtests came back and look perfect, so everything has been finalized. Mister has a new home!

He will be going to live in Massachusetts. His new mom is a lovely woman who is home a lot, has had cats all of her life, and has quite a bit of experience with various health issues. Her veterinary references are stellar, and during the interview she had all the right answers to our questions and answered some of them even before we asked! She is absolutely committed to working with Mister and has no problem retaining the services of a behaviorist if it becomes necessary.

She also has two cats (brothers) that are the same age as Mister, and they are used to living with a third cat. I think it will be very good for Mister to have some feline company. Since Mister has been through so many stressful changes (with a few more to come), and has been an only cat for some time, he will be given time to settle in and get used to his new surroundings before a *very* slow introduction is implemented. I have happily made the committment to provide ongoing support and advice throughout this process and into the future. :-)

There are many people who said very nice things about me during this <blush> and I thank you, but I cannot by any means take full credit for this as I am not solely responsible for finding Mister a wonderful and caring home. I had help "behind the scenes" from a dear, dear friend whose efforts were indispensible. And you, good people of the net, deserve an incredible amount of thanks. Every single one of you that offered help and/or took the time to tell someone his story must be given credit for this happy turn of events because, without you, Mister's circumstances would be quite different and we would not have been led to the woman who caringly and compassionately offered to adopt him.

There have been many sleepless nights and tears since this first happened, but now we can rest easy. THANK YOU.

(((((((((((((((HUGS TO ALL))))))))))))))))

There were also many kind offers of donations towards transportation costs, and if you are still interested in helping you can email me privately. I have made the travel arrangements to fit in with everyone's schedules, so I will be flying out to pick up Mister the weekend after this one and will deliver him into the loving arms of his new mom the following day. I can't wait to get my hands on the furry little critter and meet the woman who is giving him a new lease on life (and of course I will make sure to take lots of pictures to share with all of you when I get back!)

The vet clinic where he is staying is abuzz with his story and they all are taking extra care to give him special attention and grooming. He is reported to be doing very well and should be fine until I get there.

Stories like this just go to show what great things people can do when they pull together for a common cause. Be proud.

This next week is going to be a long one... :-)
